Postbox picks up an ASTRA
PostBox once again joined up with Sarah Linton Productions to uncover the lead up to the ‘CMC Rocks the Snowys’ an inaugural country music Festival. The documentary captures the back drop of Thredbo, the community spirit of the ‘Snowys’ and the pre-festival heat of an inaugural music festival delighting country music followers from across the country.
The initial challenge was to source enough pre-festival footage for a 1 hour feature edit, the latter to angle a story from the eclectic material at the post production stage. The PostBox team had the job of piecing together interviews with proud snowy residents and performers, scenic backdrops and crowds clad in Akubras and mammoth belt buckles.
“Editing a one hour piece on the lead up to a festival has its challenges. We’re limited to back-story and have to make this work in its own right. There’s a lot more scope when you’re able to shoot the performer’s whole process, especially when they’re quite a character.” Aaron Peterson, Editor
The end product certainly accomplished a story in its own right; somewhat owing to mayhem in the performance wings successfully shot by Sarah Linton, but more so to do with Aaron’s editing decisions- where the majestic Snowy Mountain landscape and a proud community acted as the driving motif for a unique, country event. The end result: A great collaboration of ‘fly on the wall’ footage, absorbing interviews and intelligent editing.
